No tv in our bedroom, either, also a strict house rule. And I'm with you on the reading in bed. I'm sleeping much better now that I've made it a rule not to eat anything after 7pm, so next I hope to get to work on the yoga.

Thanks for the reinforcement and good advice!

Those are excellent points, and I'll try the timer trick. I think it may be just the thing for me, and cell phones make it so easy.

I wasn't expecting to get such a boost from this article; they're always good and interesting, but this one may have been a true benefit to my health. Thanks, Pam.

Oh my goodness, food at work will kill anyone's good intentions!

I remember how my coworkers used to groan whenever anyone brought in leftover treats or Halloween candy or whatever. Because there we were, stuck in the office, stressed out and within arm's reach of unhealthy snacks.

I call it a Carpet Picnic... and it's my favorite way to eat, too.

I've found, though, that the biggie for me in terms of not feeling the crash is the protein part of snacks. I do our 3/4 oz snack-size cheeses (2 make a serving) or nuts (a palm-full is about the right size)... sometimes, if I'm feeling daring, I sneak a few "extra" peanut butter tubs from the hotel breakfast buffet for a follow-up snack (sssh... don't tell). I'll pair all of that with either fruit or crackers/pita chips or a combo... but I think it's the combo of fat + carb + protein that makes all the difference... and keeps me from polishing off the ice cream at the end of the day.

(although I do start the next day with a significant amt of coffee... I'm not a fan of the nicotine route, but caffeine... now there's my morning yum.... ;-)
