Nan Allison, MS, RD, LDN is a licensed nutritionist, co-author of “Full and Fulfilled: the Science of Eating to Your Soul’s Satisfaction,” and owner since 1987 of Allison Nutrition Consulting (formerly Allison and Beck). Her ongoing interest is in why individuals and cultures choose to eat the way they do and how to facilitate change at the individual, corporate and community levels. She helps clients who struggle with a variety of nutrition related issues: dieting, eating disorders, addictions, sports nutrition, diabetes, pediatrics, and corporate wellness—always from the perspective that healing (both individual and corporate) is a process rooted in guided self-exploration and discovery. She served as the legislative director for the Tennessee Dietetic Association and remains involved in nutrition and public policy concerns, particularly around food and mental health issues. Nan is a founding member of the Nutrition Professionals Alliance which provides educational services to the community and to health professionals. She was the Tennessee Dietetic Association’s 1990 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year and in 2002, Dietitian of the Year.
Renee Anzalone is an ACSM-CPT certified personal trainer and private chef. She has been working in the fitness industry for over 25 years. Renee was a marathon coach with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for 5 years. She is currently working towards her ACSM-CEP certification, which will allow her to work with cancer patients and survivors. She promotes healthy life style changes through exercise and diet. Renee has been in the food industry since she was 16 years old. Her focus now is healthy vegetarian cooking.
Dr. Stephanie Bailey is a lifetime champion of community health excellence. She was Director of Health for Nashville/Davidson County (1985-2006) and recently served as the Chief for Public Health Practice at CDC (2006-2010). Dr. Bailey has received numerous awards, is a published author, and a sought after speaker. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Clark University; her M.D. from Meharry Medical College; and her M.S.H.S.A. from the College of St. Francis. She currently consults on community health strategies and is an Independent Business Owner, Regional Representative and Certified LifeCoach for COMPASS, a Personal Development Company. Her purpose in life: “To lift people up so that they can soar.” She is an agent for healing and by ‘permission’ is showing up each day to be used.
Mary Lee Bartlett is a community volunteer. She has served on the boards of many area non-profits, including Monroe Harding, St. Luke’s Community House, the Martha O’Bryan Center and Brentwood Academy. She has also served as chairman of the boards of: the Junior League of Nashville, Friends of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee, Maryland Farms YMCA, the Nashville Humane Association, the United Way of Williamson County’s Patricia Hart Society, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae and First Presbyterian Women’s group. Mary Lee has been employed as a Weight Watchers leader since 2006, inspiring people to be their healthiest. Mary Lee and her husband, Steve, are the parents of two daughters and one canine child.
Mary Carter has been styling food, testing and developing recipes and preparing “Edible gifts” for over 25 years. “Each phase of this work has been interesting and rewarding. Cooking has enabled me to be a guest on local television over 100 times.” Mary has been a guest on QVC as a spokesperson for a cookbook she helped develop. It’s called “Hometown Favorites”. 
Laura Creekmore is an experienced, award-winning content strategist and information architect. After a dozen years in digital media, Creekmore founded Creek Content in 2008. The firm helps clients with content strategy and management, search application optimization, taxonomy and information architecture, and online communities. Creekmore developed, and her team now implements, the content strategy for a private personal health improvement site. She also manages the content development and community engagement strategy for a software company’s private customer community, working to improve service and drive down costs. Creekmore is married, has 3 children, and is president of the board of Friends of Shelby Park, a board member of the Information Architecture Institute, the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and the Nashville chapter of the American Marketing Association, and a long-time Junior League of Nashville volunteer. Dr. Alistair James Reid Finlayson is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Western Ontario, London, achieved Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada) and certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is certified as a specialist in addictions by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Finlayson is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and a Distinguished Life Fellow of The American Psychiatric Association. His career interests are general psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and sexual behavior. He has published several book chapters and scientific papers. Dr. Finlayson directs the Vanderbilt Comprehensive Assessment Program, which has completed over 400 fitness-for-duty evaluations for physicians and other professionals.
Barbara Forbes is a nurse practitioner who has been involved with the education, research, and treatment of tobacco for 22 years. Forbes has functioned as Director of the Institute for Smoking Cessation and Prevention at Vanderbilt Dayani Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has been trained in the Mayo Clinic Tobacco Treatment Specialist Program, presented at local, national and international conferences, and conducted research with various treatment modalities. A former smoker, Forbes uses the evidenced-based information in The Clinical Practice Guidelines: Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence, 2008 Update for her programs. She has counseled clients individually, in group format and in corporate settings and tailors interventions in response to various needs.

Amanda Grieves was born and raised in Chicago, IL and along the beautiful coast of Maine. At the age of 18, piled everything she owned in the back of her vehicle and moved to Nashville; living out of her car for awhile. After a handful of years serving as a travel consultant and in employee relations for a corporation here in Nashville, Amanda jumped into the non-profit sector and was hired as the Human Resources Manager/Volunteer Services Director at The Salvation Army. Then in 2008, Amanda switched up roles a bit and continued as the HR Manager but also became the Social Media Manager. Since 2005, Amanda has also served as coordinator for the Angel Tree program, which includes managing all logistics, contracts and day to day activities as they pertain to the registering of families, data entry, processing of tags for the malls, delivery of gifts, sorting/organizing of gifts and distribution. David D. Hagaman, MD is Medical Director of the Vanderbilt Asthma Sinus Allergy Program (VASAP), the first coordinated multi-specialty program in the country dedicated to the evaluation, treatment and management of airway diseases. VASAP provides patients with access to a total care system that encompasses evaluation, treatment, resolution and management all under one roof. Dr. Hagaman received his medical degree from Ohio State University and completed his residency and internship in Internal Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. Mary Hance, aka Ms. Cheap, learned her thrift from her frugal parents – her bargain savvy mother and her father who was an Episcopal priest and bishop. She grew up in Mississippi and in Memphis. She graduated with honors from the University of the South at Sewanee, with a degree in English. In 1976, she started with the Nashville Banner as a copy clerk and worked her way up to cover the local and state and federal courts, the police beat, Metro government, and worked as an editorial writer, a business writer and assistant business editor. When the Banner closed in 1998, she and her Ms. Cheap column moved to the Tennessean. She and her husband Bill have two grown daughters.
Catherine Hardin is the Workforce Development Specialist for The Next Door, Inc (TND). Catherine started at TND in 2009. TND is a residential transition center for women coming from incarceration or other crisis situations. Catherine has her Bachelor of Arts degree from Belmont University in Nashville TN. Her professional background is in the staffing and recruiting industry where she worked for four years before coming to TND. Catherine’s professional experience has given her insight into employment needs and trends, especially focusing on needs of the job seekers and hiring managers. TND’s Workforce Development program assists women in creating professional resumes, learning interview skills and creating plans for their job search as well as daily job search accountability. Catherine meets individually with residents as well as teaching a ten-week soft skills training class to assist the women with job retention skills once they obtain employment.

Helen Headley Hawk, owner of Etiquette In The City, has been a resident of Nashville most of her life. She grew up on a farm in rural Arkansas as one of eleven children, where proper etiquette and social skills were not a high priority. Patrick B. Johnson, Sr. has served for the past 12 years as the President and CEO of Christian Community Services, Inc. (CCSI) located in Nashville, TN. Thelma earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan and worked as a family and individual therapist. Following the sale of the Davis-Kidd in 1997, she returned to her interest in counseling and became trained and certified as a life coach. She specializes in working with people who are in transitions — from choosing to changing life direction. Ten years ago she created the Women’s Learning Community, a nine-month program for women who want to live a more authentic life. Thelma has an adult son and daughter and a three-year-old granddaughter.
The Reverend Marcia C. King serves as Associate Rector and Director of Ministry. Prior to her call to St. George’s, Marcia was Assistant Rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs, MS where she was a major leader in coordinating relief efforts for that community following the ravages of Hurricane Katrina. Born in Knoxville, TN, Marcia lived in Jacksonville FL for over 35 years. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Florida and received her Masters of Divinity from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. Marcia is currently pursuing her Doctor of Ministry degree. Prior to entering seminary, Marcia was Director of Sales and Marketing for Prudential Insurance Company. She has served on the Executive Council of the American Cancer Society as well as numerous other philanthropic organizations. Marcia is married to John King; they have three adult children living in North Florida.
Gwinnett McGhee Ladson MD is Board-Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Professor of Obstetrics at Meharry Medical College. She is also the Program Director of the Residency Program at Meharry. She has served as interim chairman of the department and medical director of the Maternal and Infant Care Center of Nashville General Hospital as well as chief of obstetrics. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology, Association of Professors of Gynecologist and Obstetricians. She is a Principal Investigator or Co-Pi on numerous research projects including research on Preterm Labor, Polycystic Ovary Disease, Asthma in Pregnancy. Dr Ladson has received numerous awards, but most dear to her are teaching awards including the Kaiser Permanente Teaching Award in 1997 and 2009. In 2007, She received the Excellence in Science and Medicine Award at Tennessee State University’s Women of Legend and Merit Awards Ceremony.
Deputy Chief Kim Lawson is a 32-year veteran of the Nashville Fire Department. She currently heads the Community Services Bureau and serves as the Chief Public Information Officer and is the primary point of contact for all media inquiries and public relations/marketing for the department. Lawson’s responsibilities include public fire safety education and prevention. In May 2003, Lawson was promoted to Deputy Chief making her the first female in the history of the Nashville Fire Department to hold this rank. Lawson holds a B.S. degree in Public Safety Administration and has completed the Fire Service Executive Management Program at Owen School of Management at Vanderbilt. Additionally, she has been certified by several nationally recognized organizations as a Public Life Safety Educator, Public Information Officer and media relations professional.
Dr. Laura Lawson grew up in Charleston, West Virginia and graduated from West Virginia University. After earning her medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine she performed her residency in General Surgery and a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Vanderbilt. She practiced four years at the Nashville Breast Center before co-founding Tennessee Breast Specialists with Drs. Dunbar and Furman.
Donna Lovitt, RRT-SDS, RPSGT, RST joined the exciting practice of polysomnography in 1992 and considers it a pleasure to be a part of a profession that tests, counsels and shares information concerning sleep disorders. She received her basic training from the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine and states that she has encountered at least 51 of the 79 sleep disorders that are diagnosed and treated. Donna is currently employed by HCA at the Centennial Sleep Disorder Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She also serves on the Tennessee State Board of Polysomnographic Technologists, is an active volunteer for sleep disorder information, and an active member of the Tennessee Sleep Society, Kentucky Sleep Society and American Association of Sleep Technologists. Donna attended John A. Gupton College where she received an Associate of Arts in Mortuary Science, and the Thomas Aquinas, Vanderbilt Allied Health Respiratory Care Program where she received an Associate of Science degree.
Tommy Lynch is a native Nashvillian who has spent a lifetime as either a user of park facilities or as an employee of the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation. Currently, the Interim Director of the department, Tommy previously served as Assistant Director of Special Services which oversees Metro Parks’ revenue producing facilities. He has been married to Marla D. Lynch for 31 years. They have three children; a son Dylan, and twin daughters, Kristen and Casey, who are all presently attending universities in Tennessee. Tommy graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a B. S. in Political Science in 1973.
Beth Malow, MD, MS is a tenured Professor of Neurology and Director of the Vanderbilt Sleep Disorders Center and the Vanderbilt Sleep Research Core. She is also an Associate Director of Vanderbilt University’s Clinical Research Center and Chief of the Vanderbilt Sleep Disorders Division, and Program Director of Vanderbilt’s ACGME Sleep Medicine Fellowship. Dr Malow’s clinical, educational, and research programs focus on the impact of treating sleep disorders on neurological disease. Her own research has emphasized the interface of sleep and epilepsy, and more recently, sleep, autism, and related disorders of neurodevelopment. Through collaborations and mentorship, she is also involved in the study of sleep as relates to diabetes, pulmonary disease, and stroke, as well as aspects of sleep medicine related to genetics and circadian biology. She is a frequently invited speaker at national and international seminars and conferences focusing on sleep, autism, epilepsy, and neurological disorders.
Tiffany Mann has been with the Alzheimer’s Association for a little over a year. She is the Senior Manager of Programs and Education for the Middle Tennessee office. Tiffany has her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and she enjoys helping those affected by Alzheimer’s disease in their journey. She has been working in the mental health field for the last 7 years. Tiffany is originally from Kentucky and is married with one son.
After pursuing a Bachelors in Psychology and Business at Murray State University, Kathryn McDaniel studied at the Natural Health Institute in Nashville, TN. There, she obtained her LMT license, as well as certifications in Healing Touch, Reiki, and Life Alignment Technique. In 2002, she opened her first business – Green Hills Massage Associates. As her business evolved, Kathryn introduced other services such as hypnotherapy and group fitness. GHMA grew into Green Hills Healing Arts – inching closer to the dream of a full service natural health facility. In 2011, another expansion broadened the business model and GHHA is now Lilac Healing Center. Kathryn currently works with private clients to help them create personal health goals and is the Business Manager for Lilac Healing Center.

Eileen Stellefson Myers, MPH, RD, LDN, FADA is the Director of Prevention and Health Management at The Little Clinic. Eileen received her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University and her Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina. She is a Fellow of the American Dietetic Association. Eileen has lectured and published on motivational interviewing and effective nutrition counseling strategies. Eileen is also the author of a manual for counseling clients with eating disorders titled “ Winning the War Within: Nutrition Therapy for Clients with Eating Disorders” which is in its second edition.
Dr. Freida Hopkins Outlaw received her Baccalaureate in Nursing from Berea College, Masters in Psychiatric Nursing from Boston College and a Ph.D. from The Catholic University of America. She has over forty years of experience as a clinician, researcher, educator, and policy maker in public mental health. In the past she was involved in the delivery of culturally appropriate behavioral health care in an integrated primary health care setting, a University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing community practice. Presently she is the Assistant Commissioner, Division of Special Populations and Minority Services as well as the Chief Nurse for five Regional Mental Health Institutes, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities. She has written extensively in the areas of cultural diversity, management of aggression, seclusion and restraint, and the role of religion, spirituality and the meaning of prayer for people with cancer. Her latest publications are, the use of the Geriatric Depression Scale with Older African Americans, Diabetes and Depression in African Americans, Mental Health Parity, and Alcohol and Substance Abuse in the Elderly.
Judy Parks, Staffmark Staffing Services since 1997. Managed both Gallatin and Lebanon Branches most of her career helping both employees and companies by matching the right person to the job through coaching and skills assessment. Currently she is an Account Executive in the Nashville and Brentwood markets, finding companies who are looking for great employees. Originally from Massachusetts, Parks moved to Tennessee in 1991 and currently lives in Mt Juliet.
Lisa Patton is a native of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. She currently serves as the weathercaster on News 2. Lisa and News 2′s Storm Tracker 2000 have been seen on CNN during and after the infamous April 16th tornadoes and they are both credited for saving lives when severe storms ripped through portions of Middle Tennessee. Lisa attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and graduated with a degree in Communications. Lisa is the one of few television weathercasters in Nashville that was born and raised in Tennessee, giving her the tremendous advantage of working in front of her hometown audience. She is recognized as one of Middle Tennessee’s most trusted and reliable weathercasters. She and her husband live in Middle Tennessee with her two daughters and son.
Lisa Pote manages the consulting practice as Director of Consulting Services at the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM). A masters level social worker, Lisa has been an active volunteer in the Nashville community, currently serving as president of the Nashville Women’s Political Caucus, where she previously served as the Community Outreach Chair and as President Elect. Lisa also serves as the Chair of the Youth Council of the Local Workforce Investment Board and just completed her term as president of the Hands on Nashville board and as a Member At Large on the 2009 board of the Tennessee Women’s Political Caucus.
Nancy Raines is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Saint Thomas Heart. With more than fifteen years at Saint Thomas Health, she has previously held the position of Emergency Services Director. At Saint Thomas Heart, Nancy leads a team that encompasses all aspects of operations including Health Information Management, Cardiac Diagnostic Imaging, Clinical Services, and Patient Services, and provides support for all Saint Thomas Heart Divisions including Saint Thomas, Baptist, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Lebanon, Gallatin, McMinnville, Lawrenceburg, Winchester, Tullahoma, Clarksville, and Goodlesttsville. Nancy received degrees in nursing at Belmont University and the University of Alabama. She also competed a degree in Health Services Leadership. Ramsey Raybeck is a native Nashvillian, who has enjoyed her career working with multiple nonprofits in the areas of volunteer management, fundraising, and special events. Currently, she is the Donor Relations Manager at Hands On Nashville, Middle Tennessee’s volunteer resource center that connects volunteers with service opportunities. Ramsey volunteers her time with the therapeutic horseback riding program, Saddle Up!, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (Tennessee Chapter), and is a member of the Junior League of Nashville. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Chris, 10-month old daughter Clarke, and goofy lab Houston.

Scott Ridgway has served as Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network’s Executive Director since 2001. He works closely with TSPN’s gubernatorially appointed Advisory Council to implement suicide prevention strategies within the state of Tennessee. He also serves on the Steering Committee for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
Scott has been involved numerous community agencies and organizations over the past several years. Among his numerous honors are the 2005 I.C. Hope Award and the 2006 Eli Lilly Inc “Heroes in the Fight” Individual Community Supporter Award in 2006. He holds an M.S. in Public Service Management from Cumberland University and a B.A. in Human Services from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Dr. Reagan Saig received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, medical degree from the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis, and completed her residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and is a recipient of the Golden Tarheel teaching award from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Saig practices with Tennessee Women’s Care, PC at Baptist Hospital and Centennial Medical Center. Her interests are in obstetrics and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery utilizing both laproscopic and robotic technolgies. She enjoys running and reading books in her spare time. Her husband, Joe, and she reside in Nashville, TN.
Dr. Harriette Scarpero is a board certified, fellowship trained urologist and nationally recognized expert in female pelvic health and reconstruction (FPM/RS). Dr. Lorien Sites, a native of McMinnville, Tennessee, joined Nashville Skin and Cancer in July 2009. She enjoys all aspects of adult and pediatric dermatology including medical, surgical, and cosmetic services. Dr. Sites completed her internship at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, and then she moved to Nashville to complete her three-year dermatology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Sites has authored several articles in national peer-reviewed medical journals in dermatology. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Medical Association, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Women’s Dermatological Society, and several other local medical societies. Dr. Rhonda Switzer-Nadasdi has spent her career overseeing dental programs for the poor. She served as head of dentistry at a fly-in health center in the sub-arctic location of Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. She also served as a staff dentist for the Department of Health in Hamilton, Bermuda where she cared for children of low-income families, people with mental challenges, and people in nursing homes and prisons. Dr. Switzer became the first employee of the Interfaith Dental Clinic in Nashville, Tennessee in 1995 and has served as the executive director ever since. During her tenure, the clinic has grown from a two-chair operation located in the basement of West End United Methodist church to a ten-chair clinic with a staff of twenty-one and hundreds of volunteers which cared for more than 1500 patients from 8 middle Tennessee counties last year, providing them with over 2 million dollars in patient care. She has been recognized by the Academy of General Dentistry as a finalist for Dentist of the Year in 2008 and a recipient of the Dr. Sigmund Gruenwald Humanitarian Service Award in 2007.
Elizabeth Slagle Todaro is a part-time Community Educator for the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee. She has over 15 years of experience in creating and providing professional training and support for a variety of audiences and has worked in the fields of political advocacy, education reform, domestic violence, family law and criminal justice.She received a B.A. in Political Science from Emory University and a law degree from the City University of New York Law School. She also serves as the director of a local non-profit that works to bring policy debate back into Nashville’s public schools.
Jenny Brunette Verner is a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner who works for Dr. Larry Gurley at The Menopause Center at Baptist Hospital. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master in Science of Nursing from Vanderbilt University Nursing School. After graduation, Jenny worked at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital in high risk obstetrics for a year before returning to Nashville and her current position. Jenny is a native Nashvillian who is married and has a one-year-old daughter.
April Wood has personal and professional experience in the fitness arena. She has maintained 110lb weight loss for the past seven years. April currently works with the YMCA Hope for Health Program to help women lose weight and regain their health. She has a master’s degree in exercise science and is a certified personal trainer through ACSM, ACE and NASM. She is also a certified aerobics instructor, nutrition consultant and lifestyle coach. She has been featured on television and in newspapers in a effort to encourage others to take control of their lives, shed extra pounds and lead healthier lifestyles.
