Eleanor Roosevelt made significant contributions to the field of international human rights, a topic for which she campaigned throughout her life. As chairperson of the United Nations Human Rights Commission she played an integral role in drafting the 1948 Declaration of Human Rights.

Rosa Parks’ refusal to give up her bus seat in 1955, a single act of defiance, became an international symbol of resistance to segregation, leading to some of the most significant civil rights legislation in American history. For her peaceful and dignified campaigning she became one of the most respected figures in the civil rights movement.
Helping Women Soar $500 – $999
Amelia Earhart, American aviation pioneer, was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1928. This significant achievement, and her many other accomplishments, have inspired generations of women to reach for their dreams.
Leading Women to Freedom $250 – $499
Harriet Tubman was a heroic abolitionist and humanitarian who, after escaping slavery, returned to guide dozens of other slaves to freedom. During the Civil War Harriet served as a nurse, a spy, and a scout, and was the first woman to lead an armed expedition. She was active in the women’s suffrage movement until the end of her life.
Discovering Women’s Potential $100 – $249
Marie Curie was the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize, as well as the first person to win the Prize in two separate categories. A pioneer of science, she discovered two new elements and helped develop the world’s first X-ray machines.
